ABOUT
Who is Eric Brown?
Right now- in the world of music I am a musical voice yet to be heard. I'm no big jazz star, so instead of addressing myself in 3rd person I’ll just let you in on a little about me...personally!
Born & raised in Florence, SC, a small town with big hearts, I developed a love for music early on. In 4th grade I played the recorder and it really made me feel as If I was doing something big. Soon after, I learned to play sax and viola. I wanted to play the trombone but I was told that my arms were too short, so I gave up on my trombone dream. Had I known better I would’ve asked the band director what does he expect- I was a kid!
Music became my “thing”. I seemed to excel at music, making spots on a lot of concert and state level jazz bands. Even so, I never really felt good enough. My high school band director became a big musical influence to me. He saw potential in me and pushed me harder than I wanted to be pushed at the time. Mediocrity was not an option.
I’d like to tell you that I studied music for years, toured with numerous bands and opened for popular musical celebrities, but I can’t.
After high school I did not feel like I could be successful in music. With so many talented musicians out there why would anyone listen to me? In my mind, music was a risky to path. I liked computers, so I went that direction. I missed music though. When I heard good music, I felt like it was taunting me. I knew I missed it..but what was I to do?
Pick it back up of course! So here I am...back on the horn. Let's see what happens.
I just may be on a radio near you very soon…...
